London Heathrow Airport is the largest airport in Europe and therefore of England. It is also the airport with the best connections to other airports. At the global level, this is the third airport in terms of completed persons, after Atlanta / Hartsfield and Chicago / O'Hare in the U.S.. But by the large number of international connections, Heathrow, the world's largest number of international passenger.
In 2006, Heathrow was the busiest airport in Europe given the amount of passengers (18.8% more passengers than Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and 27.9% more than Frankfurt International Airport) [1], but it stood third, behind Charles de Gaulle and Frankfurt given the number of movements (11.9% offs and landings less than Charles de Gaulle, and 2.5% less than Frankfurt) [2]. Heathrow was fourth in the list of cargo transport (36.9% less cargo than Charles de Gaulle, 36.8% lower than Frankfurt, and 14.2% less than Schiphol Airport).
Heathrow processed daily between 1300 and 1400 flights, which depicts a total of nearly half a million landing and departing aircraft per year.
There are two runways: one of 3902 meters and one of 3658 meters.
